REFRESHER COURSE – PROFICIENCY IN FAST RESCUE BOATS (FRB)
AUDIENCE
Holders of a FRB Certificate due to expire every five years.
PREREQUISITES
Admission to the course :
– Hold a FRB Certificate
– Hold a certificate of onboard training less than five years old, certified by the shipowner (entitles the holder to a reduced number of training hours)
– Hold a Seafarers’ health service medical fitness certificate less than 12 months old.
OBJECTIVES
Prove continued competency in accordance with the Order dated 24 July 2013 relating to the revalidation of maritime vocational training qualifications
DURATION
8 hours over one day, including 2 hours of theory and 6 hours of practice

– General information on rescue boats
– Releasing and recovery
– Operating a rescue boat
– Releasing and handling in adverse weather conditions
– Helicopter rescue methods
– Hypothermia
– Portable radio equipment
Practical training :
– Operational availability of the raft
– Rescue boat releasing and recovering rescue boat exercise
– Behaviour in the event of capsizing
– Handling at slow and steady speeds

These attestations are valid for 12 months, during which time you can use the appropriate CERFA form to renew your certificates with Maritime Affairs.
