AUDIENCE CONCERNED

Shipboard officer, intended to perform the function of safety officer on board ships.

PREREQUISITES

Hold a seafarer’s medical certificate stating the seaworthiness of less than 12 months.

OBJECTIVES

Ensure the security of the ship and the implementation of the ship’s security plan with the human and material resources available to the ship.

21 hours/ 3 days

Hybrid format: half face-to-face / half distance

– Prevention of illicit acts (weapons; dangerous substances); search techniques

– Emergency Assessment; Safety, Threat and Vulnerability Risk Assessment Methods
– Review of the security plan and procedures for internal audits, inspections, control and ongoing monitoring of security activities specified in a ship security plan
– Onboard training and drills
