PROGRAM

Ship theory (definitions and general theorems)

  • Archimedes principle; displacement.
  • Definitions of perpendiculars, draughts, plate.
  • Isohull flotation, Euler’s theorem.
  • Surface and curves F; longitudinal differential metacenter.
  • Documents: studies and use of hydrostatic tables available to the master of a vessel
  • Brief description of a vessel
  • Notions of hull fatigue

Study of the determination of the displacement of a ship by reading draughts

  • Determination of draughts; correction of draughts
  • Scaling
  • Correction of arc or counter-arc
  • Drills

Calculation of the displacement and position of the vessel’s centre of gravity from hydrostatic tables with a non-zero difference

  • Case of significant draught differences
  • Calculation of the overall weight on board or off board
