Ship theory (definitions and general theorems)
- Archimedes principle; displacement.
- Definitions of perpendiculars, draughts, plate.
- Isohull flotation, Euler’s theorem.
- Surface and curves F; longitudinal differential metacenter.
- Documents: studies and use of hydrostatic tables available to the master of a vessel
- Brief description of a vessel
- Notions of hull fatigue
Study of the determination of the displacement of a ship by reading draughts
- Determination of draughts; correction of draughts
- Scaling
- Correction of arc or counter-arc
- Drills
Calculation of the displacement and position of the vessel’s centre of gravity from hydrostatic tables with a non-zero difference
- Case of significant draught differences
- Calculation of the overall weight on board or off board
- Uncertainties on results, taking into account uncertainties on draughts and water density
- Application exercises
