Naval Engineer – Systems Specialist (machinery and/or fire and/or electrical) – (F/M)

As part of the Design Approval Office for the France zone, you will join the ‘Systems’ team, which is responsible for examining Machine, Electrical and Fire Safety plans.

As part of a team of 25 people, and in liaison with the local teams in our worldwide network, your role will be to carry out design reviews for all types of ships under construction in France or abroad, in compliance with the applicable regulations (Class or Statutory Regulations).

These design reviews include, among other things, examining the following elements

– Propulsion systems and associated circuits

– Piping and drainage systems

– On-board equipment (pressure equipment, steering gear)

– The ship’s electrical architecture (energy sources, distribution boards)

– Ship automation, alarms and safety systems

You will also carry out technical studies in your field and provide assistance to the Bureau Veritas network for ships in service throughout their life (modifications, conversions, etc.).

You will be responsible for managing all aspects of the successful completion of your examinations:

– Technical and contractual follow-up

– Guaranteeing the quality of the examination and meeting deadlines

The shipbuilding industry is at a technological crossroads, and many more environmentally-friendly projects are coming on stream: propulsion systems based on wind, hydrogen or electricity, etc. Bureau Veritas has a duty to support this transition – you will have the opportunity to take part in these changes.

As a former Merchant Navy or Navy officer, or as an engineer by training, you will have knowledge of propulsion systems, electrical engineering, power engineering and/or mechanical engineering.

You are interested in technical subjects and the naval industry. Initial professional experience, ideally in the marine or offshore industry, has enabled you to develop solid technical knowledge in one or more of these fields.

You have a good command of IT tools and have good writing and interpersonal skills. Attentive to the needs of your internal and external customers, you enjoy working in a team and adapting to the situations you encounter.

You are rigorous and pragmatic, and enjoy working in a team. You speak and write fluent English.
