Offshore operations manager

The operations manager will support the institute’s four scientific and technical programmes by preparing and carrying out short-term operations at sea aimed at deploying, operating and maintaining autonomous measurement devices or devices integrated into structures (buoys, measurement masts, wind turbines). He/she will be responsible for coordinating the maintenance in operational conditions of these structures and their equipment.

The main tasks will be to:
– Monitoring the operation and maintenance in operational conditions of permanent measurement devices deployed (multi-instrumented scientific buoys) or operated by the Institute (measurement mast, future wind turbine).
– Implementing tests and data acquisition campaigns at sea for the needs of the Institute’s four R&D programmes. Operations will mainly take place in the Eastern Channel – North Sea, but also on the other French coasts on a more occasional basis.

These tasks can be broken down as follows:
– On the Fécamp mast (76) in particular: ensuring the installation and maintenance in operational conditions of the on-board systems (power supply, communication, data storage, geolocation, integration of sensors, etc.); keeping the technical files up to date; managing the preventive and corrective maintenance of the mast structure and its auxiliary systems (crane, safety elements, JTube, etc.). Maintaining contact with the authorities and keeping a regulatory watch.
– Planning, preparing and coordinating operations at sea, in compliance with QHSE (Quality, Health, Safety, Environment) rules: identifying maintenance requirements and understanding scientific needs; identifying intervention methods and resources (vessels, divers, ROV, etc.); contracting with service providers; supervising the establishment of intervention procedures and risk analyses; organising logistics.
– Take an active part in operations at sea: carry out the departure briefing; supervise maintenance operations and ensure the implementation of measurement protocols.
