REFRESHER COURSE – BASIC SAFETY TRAINING CERTIFICATE
AUDIENCE
Holders of a basic safety training certificate (BST) due to expire every five years.
PREREQUISITES
– Hold a BST
– Hold a Seafarers’ health service medical fitness certificate less than 12 months old
– Hold an on-board training certificate for the 5 years preceding entry to the course
OBJECTIVES
Prove continued competence in accordance with the Order dated 24 July 2013 relating to the revalidation of maritime vocational training qualifications and the STCW Manila Amendment Convention of 24 June 2010.
DURATION
PST refresher course: 6 hours, including 2 hours of theory and 4 hours of practice
FP&FF refresher course: 10h including 2h theory and 8h practice

The course attestations are dematerialised, and can be accessed directly on your seafarer’s portal as soon as the training course has been successfully completed.
These attestations are valid for 12 months, during which time you can use the appropriate CERFA form to renew your certificates with Maritime Affairs.
