Focus on : Scholarships at ENSM

Would you like a grant to finance your studies?

The ENSM can grant financial aid to students enrolled in initial training at the ENSM.

Key figures

  • 248 scholarship students in 2024-2025
  • 2,360 euros in scholarships awarded on average
  • 600k euros in scholarships awarded in total

Higher education bursaries, established by the State for ENSM students, may be awarded to candidates who have been accepted to enrol at the School for one year. These grants are awarded on the basis of social criteria to students who meet the conditions of nationality, age, studies, diploma, resources and attendance.

Our advice

  • Take the necessary steps even before receiving confirmation of admission
  • Make sure you follow the timetable, otherwise you may not be eligible for a grant
  • Carry out an eligibility simulation on the CROUS website
  • Send the application to the maritime social service (SSM) corresponding to the ENSM site (Le Havre, Saint Malo, Marseille or Nantes) where you are applying.

Merit-based grants

Merit-based aid is awarded to students enrolled in initial training at ENSM who receive a higher education grant based on social criteria or an annual allowance granted as part of the specific aid scheme.
It is intended for students who have obtained a ‘very good’ mention in the French baccalauréat.

When applying for scholarships for initial training, students must provide proof that they have obtained a ‘très bien’ mention at the baccalauréat.

Merit-based aid is paid at the same time as the grant based on social criteria. It is not paid during major university holidays. Continued payment of merit-based aid is subject to the conditions of course attendance and presence in examinations laid down for higher education grants based on social criteria.

Merit-based aid is governed by a decree. To find out more
