School in Ship for Officers in charge of Engineering watch/Chief Engineer 8000 kW
From 8 to 12 March 2022, the second week of the School in Ship took place onboard the Armorique from Brittany Ferries, for the 2nd class of students in the first year of the program Officers in charge of an engineering watch/chief engineer 8000kW from Saint Malo.
The students from this program were thus able to follow the different systems in the engine room, fitted with a conventional installation (diesel engines with controllable pitch propellers) and studied the operation of an exhaust gas washing system (EGWS).
They also explored the bow thrusters room and steering gear room, the emergency generator, the maneuvering stations, the bow door, the garage, and life-saving appliances.
The students were also able to participate to the arrival and departure operations in the engine-room and on the bridge, and to a fire and abandon drill.
And soon it’s for the 3rd class of students in the first year of the program Officer in charge of an engineering watch/chief engineer 8000kW from Saint Malo to get onboard!
