The French Maritime Academy ( ENSM)’s winners of the Propeller Club 2020 Prize

This year and for the first time, the Propeller Club of Le Havre wished to support the M2 students in sailing engineering at the ENSM, by rewarding three end-of-study theses.

Welcomed by Caroline Grégoire, General Director of ENSM, François Le Guern, former student and former president of the Club, and Gersende Le Dimna, teacher in charge of the M2 theses, the three winners, Marie Rouget, Baptiste Aubourg and Maxence Collet, presented their work by videoconference on Wednesday, November 25, 2020.

Innovation and human factors

The award-winning dissertations deal with subjects related to innovation and human factors, two of the School’s areas of expertise.

Maxence Collet, whose dissertation deals with “Hydrogen: from manufacture to use”, shows hydrogen as a solution for the future as an eco-responsible fuel, addressing issues related to hydrogen and its application via fuel cells.

His internship tutor was: Jacques Lalanne

Baptiste AUBOURG wondered about “Kitesurfing, what future in the maritime world? »

Supervised in his research by Olivier Lemattre, he considered the adaptation of a kitesurf-type sail on a merchant ship.

Marie Rouget, whose tutor was Jean-Pierre Clostermann, was interested in the human factor: “Does a sailor’s life begin where man’s life ends?” by working on the bridges and psychological gaps between life on land and life at sea.

The presentations were followed by a moment of online exchange, punctuated by questions and answers from Propeller Club and ENSM members and external participants.
