  • IGF and IGC courses (LNG tanker master profile)
  • Ship rescue/abandon courses for CESAME (STCW bridge profile in Saint-Malo)

Becoming a Teacher

For the start of the new academic year in September 2024, ENSM is recruiting teachers to train merchant navy officers at its campuses in Le Havre, Saint-Malo, Nantes and Marseille.

Do you want to pass on your knowledge? ENSM welcomes and supports you:

You will be integrated into the educational team of the teaching unit for which you are recruited and in contact with the teachers at the four campuses.

You will be given support for:

  • Classroom management
  • Educational practices
  • Course design
  • Organisation and planning of teaching
  • Programmes implmentation (curricula)
  • Knowledge of documentary resources to gather information and illustrate courses
  • Mastering software: PowerPoint, Word, and job-related tools.

Do you want to pass on your knowledge? ENSM trains you:

The Directorate of Studies, in collaboration with the deputy campus directors responsible for education and department heads, organises teachers training and support. Teaching workload for permanent teachers is reduced in the first year to allow them to develop their skills and prepare their teaching.

Initial and Continuing Training:

  • Tutoring with an experienced peer
  • Individual coaching with an educational engineer
  • Initial training in teaching methods

Whether you want to pursue a career ashore, opting to teach for a few years or many more, or you want to pass on your knowledge and experience while continuing your career, there’s bound to be the right package for you.

Reminder:

Seafarers can apply for a secondment of a few years to teach at ENSM while keeping their seafarer status (details here).
