Saint-Malo Campus
Saint-Malo campus, headed by Luc Varin, is located on the Paramé campus.
Christophe Marcillaud is his deputy, in charge of education.
At Saint-Malo campus, ENSM trains Engine officers:
- Initial Training: Students are recruited via Parcoursup.
- Vocational Education
- Continuing Education: Refresh or advanced training courses are organised in various fields, including maritime safety (BST, PSCRB, AFF, Medical First Aid and Medical care, etc.), ship operations, and engine skills.
The campus also supports candidates in the validation of acquired experience (VAE) and organises skills tests under transitional measures.
Educational Equipment
Saint-Malo campus has various facilities and equipment:
- 1 Liquid Cargo Handling Simulator
- The sea rescue and survival training center, CESAME, located on the docks of the commercial port basins, also provides fire-fighting training.
- 2 Engine Simulators, including a “3D” simulator
- 17 rooms for practical work and laboratories in various fields
- 10 Classrooms equipped with IT and video equipment
- 1 Lecture Room with 104 seats
The site has developed educational partnerships with:
- IUT of Saint-Malo (GIM department)
- Public Maritime High School Florence Arthaud (High voltage, safety, etc.)
- IFSI of Saint-Malo (medical training)
- SDIS 35 (fire training)

There are a youth hostel in Saint-Malo and two accommodation centers.

Visale Scheme (formerly Clé – Caution Locative Etudiante du Crous):
Further to the update of the Crous Student Rental Guarantee (Clé) solution, this aid has become Visale from the Action Logement entity.
The principle is simple and fully digital but does not replace housing insurance, which is mandatory when moving into unfurnished housing in France. It is a traditional guarantee for those who do not have someone they know to take on this role. Visale then acts as a “security guarantor” for the future tenant.
This process should be completed before signing the rental contract, which often requires a guarantor for unpaid rents. Note that this free aid can be added to other student aids from the French State.
Important: To make sure everything is functional on your first day in the accommodation, remember open water, electricity, and gas meters as soon as you receive the keys, as well as your internet line (you can compare providers here according to your needs) to make sure everything is running when you move in.
