CHIEF MECHANICIAN 3000KW and 8000 KW M/F

YOUR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
– Holds the authority delegated to him/her by the Captain with regard to the technical services on board and the crew members working there.
– Applies, respects and encourages the Company’s policies and procedures in the performance of all tasks, with particular attention to the safety of people, operations and the prevention of pollution.
– Carries out shifts in accordance with the HSC Code.

– Directly supervises, or delegates responsibility for, the organisation of training and familiarisation of engine crew members, especially those who have recently come on board.
– Ensures the reliable operation of the ship’s engines, machinery and other mechanical equipment.
– Plans and supervises operations with a technical or mechanical aspect, including corrective and preventive maintenance and inspection of the ship’s equipment, machinery and associated installations, in accordance with safe working practices and the Captain’s instructions.
– Analyses and reports any technical problems, makes recommendations and assists as appropriate with all corrective maintenance, temporary or permanent repairs.
– Prepares and keeps up to date all logbooks or registers, documentation and forms relating to technical service and, where necessary, reports on preparations for dry-docking or other repairs.
– Monitors, checks and reports, as appropriate, on fuel and lubricating oil consumption, keeps up to date the quantities and consumption of fuel and lubricating oil by regular surveys and other suitable methods as appropriate.
– Orders, loads and stores fuel as appropriate.

YOUR PROFILE
 You have a validated 3000KW or 8000KW Chief Engineer’s certificate (enabling you to be assigned to our 22m to 36m surfers).

 You are a 2nd Mechanic with an 8000 KW Chief Engineer’s certificate, suitable for promotion to Chief Engineer after PMP experience.
 All your documents are up to date: licences and certificates including SSO, medical certificate of fitness, vaccination, your international passport is current and valid for more than 6 months (if you have two, this will be a plus),
 You have solid experience as a 2nd Engineer or Chief Engineer (2 years), if possible in offshore oil and gas, which would be a plus,
 You have a good knowledge of ISM and the Safety Management System (risk and safety analysis, change management, etc.) and SOLAS/MARPOL regulations,
 You have a good command of CMMS (Ulysse Task Assistant would be a plus) and reporting,
 You have a sound knowledge of fast diesel engines (former technician converted to seafarer/person who has worked on a yard with these engines), JET propulsion (Kamewa would be appreciated), MTU396 engines (this would be a plus),
 You have experience of working with aluminium hulls,
 You have good leadership and communication skills, you are able to delegate, you cultivate a strong team spirit and a great sense of commitment, you have excellent interpersonal skills, you are a good communicator and you are keen to motivate your teams.

 You have a perfect command of French and English (written and spoken – an oral and written assessment is included in the recruitment process) as well as IT tools (Outlook, EXCEL, etc.).

Country of embarkation : West Africa (Congo, Angola in particular), embarkation period of 6 to 8 weeks.

Fixed-term or open-ended contract, depending on the current status of the contracts, salary according to the current salary scale.
