As part of its development, Africa Power Services’ Design and Build division is looking for a mechanical systems and processes engineer trainee. Working as part of the Design Office, your role will be to support engineering activities in the fields of general mechanics, as well as processes and system operation.
Your tasks:
– Main tasks: you will be involved in the process of sizing and integrating mechanical equipment for the operation of a complete system (such as a thermal or hybrid power plant): sizing, issuing equipment specifications, taking part in discussions with the various suppliers, etc.
– Support and structuring: you will work on creating/updating sizing tools and related technical notes
– Development and continuous improvement topics: improving and optimising sizing tools / drafting, updating and optimising standards and equipment specifications (e.g. valves, piping, ventilation of industrial buildings, etc.) / issuing technical notes (regulations for fuel farms, different types of existing equipment with their advantages and disadvantages, such as combustion air or heating systems).
Your profile:
You are preparing a 5-year degree in general mechanical or thermodynamic engineering, ideally with an interest in energy.
Fluent written and spoken English. Proficiency in Excel and VBA is an advantage.
You have good written and oral communication skills.
You are motivated, rigorous, able to summarise, dynamic and able to make suggestions. You are able to meet deadlines.
You are keen to work in a multicultural environment.
